I had a bad experience with a UV cold cathode light kit I bought from CompUSA. Installed it, powered on the system and then switched on the lights and my system powered off. It looks like it was a short that caused the problem and it ended up frying my system hard drive in the processes.
As a result I’m hesitant to try again, but I would really like to add a green cold cathode light to my case to compliment the blue LEDs in the fans.
I have an Antec SmartPower 2.0 500W power supply so I should have more than enough power for my system.
Was my experience just a fluke? What has been your experience with cold cathode lights and do you recommend a certain brand?
